No matter your age, we can all benefit from three fitness goals:

Eat, sleep, and be Merry!

Of course each one of these has some stipulations.

There is a difference between eating and healthy eating. Last year I was given the diagnosis of pre-diabetic. Yikes! My A1C went from 6.4 to 6.8 and I was terrified. An A1C of 7.0 and over is diabetic.

I went to a nutritionist and started eating a new way. In months, my A1C went down to 6.2! Yeahhhh!

No dairy, no grains, no sugar (dessert stuff), no alcohol

I zeroed in on:

  • Nuts

  • Seeds

  • Fruit

  • Vegetables (lots of them)

  • Beans

  • Protein (small amount of meat because leafy green veggies, avocados, nuts and seeds have plenty of protein.)

Easiest eating plan ever. I’m a sugarholic and that was the hardest part.

Lost weight and feel great!

My sleeping improved immediately because sugar/dessert was upping my blood sugar at night. There is nothing like a good night’s sleep to make you feel great.

The Bible says, “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine.” What makes you merry? Singing, dancing, walking, working out, jogging, belly laughing, swimming, raking, gardening, cleaning, etc. The key is to keep moving. Be active. It aids digestion and helps assimilate nutrients . . . or something like that.

Walking with friends is my favorite. Today a good friend and I walked 2.2 miles to Starbucks for a coffee and 2.2 miles back. We had a nice treat, a little rest, a great visit, lots of fresh air, and burned a few calories. Better than sitting for 2 hours over lunch. You can do this!

Too many people make weight loss their goal. 10 pounds, 20 pounds, 50 pounds. That’s way too much pressure and would take away my “merry.”

Eat healthy and just see what happens. I double dog dare you.
